The first revelation was received by Prophet Muhammad in the Cave of Hira. At that time, he often went there to think and pray alone. One night, the angel Angel Jibril came to him. The angel said, “Read.” Prophet Muhammad said, “I cannot read.” The angel repeated it three times, then taught him the first verses of the Qur’an. Prophet Muhammad was very afraid and went home. This moment was the beginning of Islam and the start of his mission as a prophet.
